Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Cath Lab Tech with Structural Heart scrub experience (mandatory) to support complex cardiac procedures including PCI, TAVR, and other interventional cardiology cases. This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week assignment.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • Must have at least one: RCIS or ARRT
  • Scrub experience, including Structural Heart & TAVR procedures (mandatory)
  • Experience with telemetry
  • Experience with Cath Lab procedures including balloon angioplasty, PCI, stents, thrombectomy, Impella insertion, left and right heart catheterization, and Rotablader

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills: Circulate, IV Start, Conscious Sedation
  • Additional Cath Lab procedures: Watchman Procedures, Septal Closure, Ablations, Coil Embolization, Filter Placement
  • EKG rhythm interpretation experience

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: 4 x 10-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Total hours per week: 40
  • Call: Callback and weekend call required (9-11 days in a 6-week rotation, including 1-2 weekends)
  • Floating: Rare, possibly to Electrophysiology (EP) unit or patient holding area within Cath Lab
  • Target patient ratio: 3 rooms

Orientation & Start Details

  • Orientation start date varies; travelers may start Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week
  • Must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation
  • Missing any portion of orientation may delay or cancel start
  • Final start date confirmed the Tuesday prior to the start week

Unit & Systems

  • Unit uses EPIC and MAC Lab systems
  • Scrubs provided

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
  • Drug screen within 6 months of start (9-panel acceptable)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with exceptions for past positives)
  • Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (9/1–10/31)
  • Physical exam not required for crisis travelers
  • Radiation badge required for Cath Lab techs
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start, including confidentiality agreement, medication safety training, and hospital policies
  • Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency required for RNs in related specialties (not applicable to techs)

Additional Notes

  • No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation
  • Candidate must provide a passport-style photo on a white background for badge creation immediately after signing contract
  • Candidate must complete mandatory education and compliance training modules as required by the facility
  • Candidate must complete all required documentation and verifications prior to start to avoid delays

This position is ideal for Cath Lab Techs with strong structural heart scrub skills looking for a 13-week travel assignment with a structured orientation and defined call responsibilities.
