Description
Registered Nurse (PCU RN for ER Holding Area)
Location: Savannah, Georgia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 12
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Provide care for patients boarded in the ER holding area (stepdown skillset required).
- Patient types include cardiac, neuro, ortho, and critical care.
- RN responsibilities include reading and saving telemetry strips (Spacelabs monitors).
- Respiratory Therapists (RT) are available 24/7 for ABGs, breathing treatments, and ventilator troubleshooting; RNs are not required to manage ventilators directly.
- X-ray and CT imaging available in ER with dedicated techs for transport.
- No phlebotomy performed by RNs in the ER.
- Separate holding area and psych/seclusion rooms available.
- Security is in-house 24/7 within the ER.
Required Qualifications
- Active Georgia or Compact RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association).
- Minimum of 2 years recent PCU nursing experience OR 1 year PCU with 1+ years Telemetry, ER, or ICU experience.
- Must have successfully completed at least 1 previous travel nursing assignment.
- Recent references from previous assignments required.
- Must provide current NURSYS report with application; candidates with any license issues will not be accepted.
- Must comply with a strict 100-mile radius rule (copy of driver’s license required).
Additional Information
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:4-5, adjusted for patient acuity.
- Weekend requirement: minimum 6 weekend days/nights in a 6-week schedule (about every other weekend).
- Holiday shifts assigned based on department needs.
- No call, standby, or floating requirements.
- Department-specific orientation provided during the first week of the contract.
- Dress code: Navy scrub color.
