Registered Nurse (RN) - Float / Med Surg (Nights)
Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float between Medical-Surgical and Stepdown units
- Patient ratios:
- Days/Evenings: 1:4 or 1:5
- Nights: 1:6
- Types of patients: All types involved with med surg and stepdown
- Bed size varies by unit
- Scrub colors: black, navy
- Work 36-40 hours/week with overtime billable after 40 hours
- Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
- EMR system used: EPIC
- Orientation dates available: June 1 and June 8
- Call back pay and on-call pay available
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
- Minimum 36 months progressive care, stepdown, or medical-surgical nursing experience
- Experience administering nitroglycerin, heparin, amiodarone including titrations
- EPIC EMR experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Skills checklist specific to progressive care, stepdown, or med surg/medical surgical discipline
- Professional reference or performance evaluation from charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, or equivalent within the last 24 months (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Stepdown experience
- Neurology care experience
- Oncology care experience
- Critical care experience
Additional Information
- Clinical interview pre-screening via phone/text from a 405 area code
- Employee separation policy restricts travel assignments within the market for certain past employees
- Night shift schedule
- Holiday, overtime, call back, and on-call pay multipliers apply as per policy
