RN - Labor & Delivery
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing

Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care while supervising licensed and non-licensed staff. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, patient education, and mentoring/precepting staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor and preceptor.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives and comply with regulatory standards.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication within and across departments.
- Recognize and prioritize complex patient care needs, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
- Anticipate and assess discharge needs, fostering family advocacy.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and evidence-based research application.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) Certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
