Description
Registered Nurse - Psychiatric (Night Shift)
Location: Ithaca, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (~13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care to psychiatric patients with needs ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex.
- Use a person-centered care approach to develop and prioritize care plans involving patients and families.
- Recognize normal and abnormal physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral statuses.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills to address patient needs and document care accurately.
- Serve as a resource and leader within the nursing team, supporting peers and promoting evidence-based practice.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent use of hands and fingers (e.g., computer keyboard).
- Ability to lift and carry light loads up to 40 lbs (equipment, IV solutions, boxes).
- Ability to stoop, kneel, sit, walk, or stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to operate job-related equipment physically.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Minimum of one year of psychiatric nursing experience, with psychiatric experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association, valid throughout the assignment.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification, valid throughout the assignment.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
