Registered Nurse - Psychiatric (RN Psych)

Location: Ithaca, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)

Job Description

• Assess patients and families with needs ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex.
• Recognize normal parameters and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status.
• Use a person-centered care approach to develop and prioritize nursing care plans involving patients and families in goal setting.
• Demonstrate competence in technical nursing skills and remain current on organizational policies and standards.
• Act as a resource to peers and collaborate with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate effectiveness of care, make clinical decisions, and maintain compliant clinical documentation.
• Support evidence-based practice and assist team members in acquiring department-specific knowledge and skills.
• Provide leadership in implementing patient care standards.

Physical Requirements:

• Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., computer keyboard).
• May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs).
• Stooping, kneeling, sitting, walking, or standing for long periods may be necessary.
• Must be able to operate job-related equipment physically.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
• Minimum of one year of psychiatric nursing experience, with experience obtained within the last year.
• Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
