Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Unit: 15-bed Labor and Delivery unit with inpatient rooming-in for infants; newborn nursery used as needed
- Patient Age Groups: Neonates and Adults
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Medication System: Omnicell
- Communication Method: SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation)
- Charge Nurse: Not required or preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- AWHONN Beginner certification
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Standard 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in MA
- MA Statewide CORI release required and must be completed ASAP
- Immunizations and Testing:
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel)
- N95 fit test within last 6 months (specific approved mask models)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Proof of one Tdap after age 18, then Td every 10 years; medical declination requires documentation
- TB testing: 2-step PPD or Qgold/Tspot within 90 days of start; chest x-ray and annual questionnaire for past positives
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Immune titer or 2 vaccines with 2 boosters required for negative/equivocal titers; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Immune titer with numerical value >10 or signed declination; 3 boosters required for negative/equivocal titers; declinations accepted
- Varicella: Immune titer or 2 vaccines with 2 boosters required for negative/equivocal titers; no declinations accepted
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (September–April); medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Required; exemptions only accepted with signed medical or religious documentation
- Facility-Specific Documents:
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, plain background) required 2 weeks prior to start
- Compliance checklist, latex allergy questionnaire, personal information forms required prior to start
- COVID-19 exemption forms required if applicable
References
- 2 professional references required for travel acute care positions, within 3 years of hire
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers will be screened for experience and considered
- Charge nurse duties are not required or preferred for this role
- Onsite N95 fit testing may be allowed on a case-by-case basis
- Facility does not accept declinations for MMR or Varicella vaccines
- Flu vaccine declinations accepted only for medical reasons with provider documentation
- Drug screen does not require marijuana testing
- Annual TB testing required only for ICU and ER candidates (not applicable here)
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Labor and Delivery unit caring for both neonates and adults during night shifts in Massachusetts.
