Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Unit and Patient Population
- 15-bed Labor and Delivery unit with inpatient rooming-in for infants with mothers
- Newborn nursery available for infants requiring special care
- Patient age groups: Neonates and Adults
Schedule and Coverage
- Weekend coverage: Every other weekend
- Scheduling type: Other (flexible or non-standard scheduling)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Beginner (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
Medication and Communication Systems
- Medication system: Omnicell
- Communication method: SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation)
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Massachusetts
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Massachusetts Statewide CORI (iCORI) Release and clearance required
- Standard background check within 1 year, including 7-year county and nationwide searches, sex offender registry
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in Massachusetts
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- N95 fit test within last 6 months (specific approved mask models required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Proof of one Tdap after age 18, then Td every 10 years
- TB testing: 2-step PPD or equivalent within required timeframes; chest x-ray and annual questionnaire if previously positive
- Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (numerical titer required or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (September–April)
- COVID-19 vaccination required; exemptions only accepted with signed medical or religious documentation
Drug Testing
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel, instant acceptable)
- Marijuana testing not required
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Badge photo: Passport-style headshot with plain white or beige background, uploaded 2 weeks prior to start
- Completion of compliance checklist, latex allergy questionnaire, personal information forms, and COVID exemption forms if applicable
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years for travel nurses
Notes
- Charge nurse role is neither required nor preferred
- Medication and competency exams are required by the agency but not currently by the facility
- Onsite N95 fit testing may be allowed on a case-by-case basis
- Facility does not accept declinations for MMR or Varicella vaccines
- Hepatitis B declinations are accepted with proper documentation
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Labor and Delivery unit caring for both neonates and adults during night shifts with a supportive team and comprehensive compliance standards.
