ICU Registered Nurse (RN) - 3N MICU

Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Unit: 3N Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Beds: 16
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2; 1:1 for higher acuity patients
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Respiratory, stroke, neurological, gastrointestinal, cardiac conditions
• Respiratory Therapist (RT) coverage 24/7 with full range of equipment (ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, vapotherm, tracheostomies, nitric oxide)
• Two pulmonologists with resident teams during the day; one team at night
• Telemetry/Monitor Techs present, but RNs must read and interpret their own cardiac rhythms

Schedule & Shifts

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Shift Times: 07:00–19:30 (days) and 19:00–07:30 (nights)
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling allowed but RNs are last to submit hours; block scheduling not guaranteed
• Weekend Requirement: Every 2nd or 3rd weekend, depending on schedule needs
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday or more if willing
• No call or standby requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for Wisconsin
• Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience
• Minimum 1 year prior travel nursing experience required
• Must have experience with Cerner electronic health record system
• Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Proficient in titrating ICU drips including propofol, precedex, vasopressors, and others
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm strip interpretation

Additional Information

• Charge nurse does not take patient assignments
• One nurse aide supports the unit nursing staff
• Floating: Agency nurses float first to like units or serve as patient observers within the hospital
• Dress code: No specific scrub color required; clean and professional attire expected
• Orientation: One day hospital orientation plus two days unit-specific orientation
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Submission note: If previously worked at this facility, must have ended employment at least 6 months prior to submission date

This position offers a challenging ICU environment with a diverse patient population and requires strong critical care skills, prior travel experience, and proficiency with Cerner and advanced cardiac monitoring.
