Description
Registered Nurse - MS/Tele
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Unit: Med-Surg/Telemetry overflow unit specializing in liver, kidney, and pancreatic diseases and transplants, plus complex gastrointestinal disorders
Floating: May float to other units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Transplant experience
Job Description Highlights
- Care for patients with liver, kidney, and pancreatic diseases
- Manage recipients of liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants
- Provide care for complex gastrointestinal disorders
- Function within a med-surg/telemetry overflow unit
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable
- Education verification required; BSN preferred but not mandatory
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana due to CA law)
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps in employment longer than 30 days; employment verification required
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titers or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: series or signed declination
- Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana)
Competency and Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for telemetry units
- ICU RNs may be required to take an onsite EKG exam after start
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Review and sign facility policies and job description prior to start, including:
- Standards of Business Conduct
- Code of Conduct
- Vendor Training
- Overpayment Refund Policy
- General Regulatory Orientation for Contracted Workers
- TB Screening Questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Conditional offer of employment attestation required prior to start
- Religious exemption forms required for PAPR or vaccine exemptions, approved on a case-by-case basis
Additional Notes
- Night shift hours are 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, every other weekend required
- Floating to other units may be necessary
- Background checks and credential verifications have specific timelines and renewal requirements
- Candidates with positive immunization exemptions must complete religious accommodation forms; declinations are not accepted without proper documentation
