Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OB)
Location: Huntington, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Job Summary
- Provide care for patients and families during labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum phases of childbirth, including newborn care.
- Work with equipment such as Epic electronic medical records, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, Fetal Warmers, and Pyxis medication systems.
- Two nurses are required to be on-site at all times; no solo shifts.
- Position involves filling open shifts on the schedule, not on-call.
- Weekend work required: every third Friday, Saturday, and a scheduled Sunday every three weeks.
- No floating to other units expected.
Unit Details
- 6 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) beds
- 3 Postpartum beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio follows Indiana Perinatal Standards
- Hospital-issued scrubs required as dress code
Orientation & Training
- Jump start training/orientation program provided.
- Department-specific training tailored to nurse’s experience and expertise.
- Orientation schedule: Week 1 (Mon-Fri), Week 2 (Mon-Tues), 8-hour days.
- Mandatory attendance for all 7 days of orientation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- AWHONN certification
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
Additional Notes
- Non-billable orientation hours: 8 hours (guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation).
- Clinicians returning within 12 months of their last worked date are not eligible for non-billable orientation.
- Call-off or cancellation allowed up to 24 hours before the start of the assignment.
