Description

Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Travel Assignment)

Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Three 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM), weekends if possible
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Travel RN position in the Operating Room (OR)
  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • Unit has 11 OR beds with a variety of OR beds and equipment
  • EMR system used: Epic
  • Call requirement: Approximately 5-6 weekday call shifts and 1 weekend call shift every 4 weeks (about 15 call shifts per month, varying monthly)
  • Call is mandatory
  • Typical procedures include total joints, multi-level spine fusions, and various Xi robotic cases (GYN, colorectal, general surgery)
  • Minimal ENT, dental, eye, or plastic surgery cases
  • Team composition varies by shift:
    • Day shift: ~8 RNs, 8 scrub techs, 5 surgical support techs
    • Night shift: 1 charge RN and 1 scrub tech in-house with call team backup

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Alaska
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • Experience in orthopedics and neurology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as circulator
  • Experience as scrub nurse
  • CNOR certification

Work Environment & Culture

  • Positive outlook and willingness to collaborate with team members is essential
  • Scrubs provided by the facility
  • Weekend shifts and on-call duties required as part of the schedule

Additional Information

  • No floating to other units
  • Operating room located on the 2nd floor of the main hospital building
