Description
Registered Nurse - Post Partum
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts
Unit: 5N Postpartum
Shift: Rotating Day/Night
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Care for patients post vaginal delivery and post c-section delivery
- Manage intermittent postpartum magnesium or postpartum hemorrhage
- Administer required drips and medications including IV antibiotics, IV magnesium, PRBC, Rhogam, and Lovenox
- Use specialty equipment such as Welch Allyn blood pressure monitors, Nihon Khoden devices, venodyne machines, IV pumps, panda warmers, and Medela breast pumps
- Patient population includes newborns
- Unit has 13 Postpartum beds and 4 Continuing Care Nursery beds
- Must work every other weekend and every other major holiday
- Scrubs are provided
- Orientation includes 3 days hospital system-wide and 3 days on unit
- No mandatory on-call, but volunteers may be asked to cover vacant shifts
Required Qualifications
- Active or conditional Massachusetts RN license verified through NURSYS (verification pulled within last 7 days)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Postpartum nursing (higher experience requirement takes precedence)
- Acute care experience required
- Current AHA BLS and NRP certifications required
- Lactation certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license with address matching demographics
- Skills checklist matching specialty required
- Resume must include 1+ year postpartum experience and 2 recent references from Charge RN/Manager/Supervisor in the specialty
- EMR experience preferred: EPIC
Additional Information
- Flu vaccine required during flu season
- Travel experience preferred but first-time travelers will be considered
- Local candidates within 50 miles are welcome
- Return to office (RTO) details must be included at submission; not guaranteed after confirmation
