Description
Registered Nurse - Medicine Pediatrics
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Registered Nurse, Direct Care
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Weekends and holidays required
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Job Description
Provide nursing care under general supervision to pediatric patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex. Responsibilities include:
- Managing an assigned group of patients
- Documenting patient responses and changes in physician orders
- Assisting physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Monitoring physiological data and intervening as needed
- Administering medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products
- Delivering competent patient care
- Communicating care plans and hospital procedures to patients and families
- Making referrals for patient care needs
- Delegating tasks to support staff
May float to various pediatric units including:
- 34-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- 25-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
- 112-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) (limited to low acuity feeder growers)
- Acute care units such as surgical, behavioral health, medical specialty (GI, neuro, respiratory), hematology/oncology, step-down, and cardiac pediatrics
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Experience with tracheostomy care
- Experience with high flow oxygen therapy
- Familiarity with infusion therapy
Additional Information
- Position is part of a Float Pool requiring flexibility to work in multiple pediatric specialty areas
- NICU floating limited to low acuity patients only, not traditional NICU care
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays
