Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 4x10 (06:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
Weekend Hours: As required by facility
Call Requirements: Approximately 5 or fewer calls per 8 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room and Hybrid Imaging suite, assisting vascular surgeons with endovascular and open cases.
  • Utilize nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care across all age groups.
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort.
  • Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of nurses and surgical techs.

Unit Information

  • Main OR with 22 beds, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) with 8 beds, and Orthopedics with 10 beds.
  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • Equipment includes various surgical tools and DaVinci robotic system.
  • Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC.
  • Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatients.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma patients
  • Vascular Surgery experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multiple years of Level 1 trauma experience.
  • Highly motivated self-starter personality.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk most of the shift.
  • Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment.
  • Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, and occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

  • Scrub color: Black
  • Unacceptable attire includes unprofessional clothing and jeans.

Additional Notes

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted.
  • Must be able to float as required by the facility.
