Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Alternating day shifts, either 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM, which may vary throughout the week based on staffing needs.
- Hours: 40 hours per week (4x10 hour shifts)
- Call: Required
- Block Schedule: May be accommodated but not guaranteed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75 miles
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Minimal
Unit & Specialty Information
Diverse surgical cases including:
- General OR procedures
- Bariatric surgeries (Gastric bypass, Sleeve, Lap band)
- Vascular surgeries (Aortic aneurysm repair, Carotid procedures, Bypass grafts)
- Thoracic surgeries (Lung resection, Thoracotomy, VATS)
- ENT procedures (Laryngectomy, Tonsillectomy, Tracheostomy, Bronchoscopy)
- GI surgeries (Colonoscopy, Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernia repair)
- Gynecological surgeries (Hysterectomy, Dilation & Curettage, Tubal ligation)
- Neurosurgery (Craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, Spinal fusions)
- Orthopedic and spine surgeries (Joint replacement, Arthroscopy, Fracture repair)
- Plastic and reconstructive surgeries (Mastectomy with reconstruction, Abdominoplasty)
- Urology (Cystectomy, Prostatectomy, Nephrectomy)
- Other procedures including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System cases, amputations, and more.
Experience needed in ortho-total joint and trauma, neuro, gynecology/urology, vascular, and thoracic specialties.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in Urology
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and updated monthly
- Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire if applicable
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
Documentation & Verification
- Education verification from primary source required (no hard copies)
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Employment application and work history verification required
- References (2 within 3 years) required for agency direct candidates
- Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and pre-employment compliance attestations

- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
