Description

Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
Weekend Hours: As required
Call Requirements: None


Unit & Patient Care Information

  • Emergency Department with 68 beds
  • Patient ratio typically 4:1; may vary during surge or other circumstances
  • Level 1 Trauma Center, Stroke, STEMI, and Regional Burn Center
  • High acuity, busy urban trauma environment with 200+ patients per day
  • Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with trauma and pediatric patients
  • High acuity patient care experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care across all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
  • Maintain professional accountability and uphold patient rights and confidentiality
  • Utilize nursing process consistent with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and professional standards
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Mostly standing and walking during shifts
  • Ability to lift, push, and move patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
  • Physical demands include pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Work performed in a clean, air-conditioned environment

Additional Information

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Time off requests must be made on submission form and cannot be approved during the first week
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability
  • Dress code: Black scrubs; unprofessional attire such as jeans is not allowed
