Description
Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology (Contract)
Location: New York, NY
Contract Length: 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)
Shift: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts, 8 shifts per pay period, staggered)
Schedule Requirements: Weekdays, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage required
Unit Size: 6 pre/post procedure bays + 5 procedure rooms
Job Summary
Provide safe, competent, quality nursing care to patients in the Interventional Radiology unit, applying nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Deliver nursing care based on Relationship Centered Care and nursing process.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs using critical thinking.
- Integrate assessment and intervention skills in care delivery.
- Collaborate with healthcare team on care plans.
- Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and team members.
- Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.
Patient Experience
- Facilitate patient-centered actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, and Discharge Wrap Up.
- Respect patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Use evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
- Initiate service recovery and escalate concerns as needed.
- Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
Quality and Safety
- Practice safe, efficient, patient-centered care and escalate barriers or risks.
- Demonstrate clinical skills essential to patient safety and quality.
- Implement process improvement and participate in peer and institutional reviews.
- Collaborate on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice, and nursing research.
- Follow high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors.
- Report safety hazards following institutional protocols.
- Document nursing practice accurately to support quality initiatives.
Operations
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate supply and inventory management with leadership.
- Escalate material or staffing shortages appropriately.
- Apply cost-effective approaches to patient care resources.
- Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.
- Maintain thorough and compliant documentation.

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology nursing experience within the last year
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
