Job Description

• Work schedule: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (two possible start times: 6:45 AM–5:15 PM or 8:30 AM–7:00 PM)
• On-call requirement: Overnight shifts on weekdays, 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays
• Specialty focus: Operating Room nursing with circulating responsibilities
• Surgical experience required in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Spine, Urology, Robotics, OB/GYN (including C-sections), Plastic Surgery
• Experience with conscious sedation
• Facility type: Community hospital or Trauma Level 2 setting

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Certification
• Experience with conscious sedation
• Surgical experience in Orthopedics, OB/GYN, Urology, and Plastic Surgery

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
• Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
• TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug test within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 30) or signed declination
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually

Additional Requirements

• Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps, including city and state of employment
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years for clinical acute care candidates
• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start
• Candidates with religious exemptions for facial hair or vaccines must complete specific exemption forms and obtain approval

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
• All certifications must be from recognized organizations (AHA or ARC for BLS, ACLS, PALS)
• Onsite training for Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) may be completed during orientation if not completed prior to start
