Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Tracy, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (two possible shifts: 6:45 AM–5:15 PM or 8:30 AM–7:00 PM)
- On-call requirement: Overnight coverage on weekdays, 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays
- Specialty: Operating Room nursing with circulating experience
- Clinical areas include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Spine, Urology, Robotics, OB/GYN (C-sections), Plastic Surgery
- Experience with conscious sedation required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Orthopedics, Urology, OB/GYN, and Plastic Surgery surgical specialties
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
- Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
- Employment verification for up to 7 years required, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids)
Additional Certifications and Competencies
- May require Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) depending on assignment
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training may be required or completed onsite during orientation
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign facility policies including Standards of Business Conduct, Code of Conduct, Vendor Training, Overpayment Refund Policy, and General Regulatory Orientation prior to start
- TB Screening Questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Photo for badge (passport-style, color, solid background) required for per diem staff
- Personal or auto insurance required only for driving positions
