RN Medical/Surgical - Wichita, Kansas
Job Details
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
- Schedule: Every other weekend, no call required
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner OneChart
- Uniform: Blue scrubs
- Holiday Commitment: Must work both July 4th and Labor Day during the contract
- Start Date: Must start by July
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kansas
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Knowledge and certification in NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- MOAB Moderate Risk certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Health and Immunizations:
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing required
- Tuberculosis Testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; positive results require chest X-ray and annual questionnaire
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start, can be completed onsite
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Drug Screening: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually; retesting required if break in service > 90 days
- Background Checks: Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and EPLS within 90 days prior to start; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days
- Education Verification: Verification of relevant education within 90 days prior to start; must be rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Skills and Competency Testing:
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score; updated every 3 years
- Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score; updated every 3 years
- Cerner Test-Out and Training Checklist with signed attestation
- Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually
- Onboarding Documentation:
- Signed Assignment Agreement (offer letter, initial confirmation, and extensions)
- Ascension Resume/Profile
- Driver’s License/State ID (valid, matching address requirements)
- Ascension Onboarding Education Attestation (completion of pre-hire education modules)
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules (required for non-allied positions)
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (initial and updated with extensions)
- Ascension Employment Verification for past 7 years
- Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
Additional Information
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required for this position
