Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Newport News, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Approximately 250-300 deliveries per month
- 12 labor rooms, 2 operating rooms (ORs), 2 PACU beds
- 4 antepartum (AP) rooms, 3 obstetric triage (OBT) rooms
- High-risk patient population
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift (36 hours/week)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Requirements and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check: 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually
- Fingerprinting: Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check results required
- Photo for facility badge meeting specific guidelines (recent, professional, neutral background)
- Completion and signing of facility-specific policies including:
- Confidentiality Agreement
- Scrub Colors Policy
- Safety Brochure
- Dress Code Policy
- Drug-Free Policy
- Hand Washing Hygiene Policy
- Annual CEU hours for stroke education (1 hour for Labor and Delivery)
- Pass/fail competency testing including medication/pharmacology exams as applicable
- Core HIPAA and compliance training
- COVID-19 vaccination series preferred
Notes
- First-time travel nurses are accepted
- Local candidates allowed at the same rate
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-volume, high-acuity Labor and Delivery unit with a supportive environment and comprehensive orientation and training requirements.
