Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location

Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 to 7:00)
- Total 36 hours per week
Patient Population & Work Setting
- Adult and Geriatric patients primarily; Pediatrics preferred
- Assist with pediatric patients including Pediatric ER patients; comfort with basic pediatric respiratory therapy care required
- Work settings include Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department
- Facility size: approximately 700 beds, including 7 adult ICUs (16 beds each), pediatric and adult acute care units
Job Responsibilities
- Provide general and critical respiratory care including:
- Medication delivery (e.g., Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Xopenex)
- Bronchopulmonary hygiene and hyperinflation therapy
- Initiation, management, and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation
- Airway management and suctioning (endotracheal tube, nasal/oral airway, tracheostomy)
- Cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation assist, extubation, maintenance of indwelling lines
- Responding to rapid responses and emergency codes, performing CPR
- Blood gas sampling and analysis, specimen collection, spontaneous breathing parameters
- Assist in high-risk neonatal/pediatric deliveries
- Changing tubing and bags for invasive/arterial lines (preferred experience)
- Floating as needed within the Metro Region (Toledo, Flower, Bay Park Hospitals), including mid-shift floating to ensure guaranteed hours
Required Equipment Experience
- Ventilators: Servo I, Avea, Bella Vista
- Ventilator management: BiPAP, CPAP, weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Oxygen therapy: High Flow Nasal Cannula, Trach collar
- Nebulizers: Hand held, T-piece, Trach collar
- Medication delivery systems: Aerosol set up mask/trach, Medihaler, Metered dose inhaler
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Ohio Registered Respiratory Therapist (OH RRT) license in hand at time of submission
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained prior to start date
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
- High-risk experience preferred; if none, must be open to high-risk training onsite
- Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable working with all patient age groups, including pediatrics
- Must be willing to float between multiple hospital locations within the metro area
- Scrub color: Grey
- No local travelers within 50 miles allowed
Compliance and Background Checks
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required, updated annually
- Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 12 months of start for applicable units; must have results on file and updated annually
- Education verification required for highest level of education
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable if no prescription medications)
- Physical exam within last 12 months (latex-free PPE available)
- Immunizations and titers required or approved exemptions for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) or approved exemptions
- Varicella or approved exemptions
- Hepatitis B series, positive titer, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- N95 Fit Test required within 12 months of start and updated annually; onsite exceptions possible with approval
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years, including at least 1 from a leader (Charge RN or above)
- Skills checklist required for all candidates
Professional Knowledge and Skills
- Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) interpretation
- Experience with airway management devices and suctioning
- Ability to perform medication administration and respiratory therapies as listed
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
