Description
Registered Nurse (Psychiatry) - West Valley, Utah
Position Overview
- 13-week contract
- 26-bed inpatient adult behavioral health unit
- Night shifts, 12 hours per shift (6 PM to 6 AM)
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- Weekend work required at least every third weekend
- Holiday shifts required on a rotating basis (every other week)
Patient Population
- Primarily geriatric psychiatric patients aged 55+
- Common diagnoses include dementia (primary diagnosis) and bipolar disorder (second most common)
- Unit has a seclusion room; no 1:1 staffing for physical restraints currently
Staffing and Ratios
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- No telemetry or monitor techs; RNs do not read strips on this unit
Orientation
- Week of orientation requires clinicians to be physically present in the state, even if some modules are completed remotely
Required Certifications and Qualifications
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Valid driver’s license must be submitted
Scheduling
- 12-hour night shifts
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as noted above
This role is suited for experienced psychiatric RNs comfortable with adult inpatient behavioral health care, working night shifts, and meeting weekend and holiday scheduling needs.
