Job Description
- Role: Preoperative (Preop) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN
- Call Requirements:
- Approximately 3-4 weeknight calls and one 24-hour weekend call within an 8-week period
- Weeknight call hours: 9 PM to 7 AM
- Weekend call hours: 7 AM to 7 AM
- Shift Options:
- 6 AM to 6 PM
- 7 AM to 7 PM
- 8 AM to 8 PM
- 9 AM to 9 PM
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of outpatient surgery experience, including day surgery
- Outpatient surgery experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Rhythm Interpretation Exam (required prior to start)
- Pharmacology Exam (required prior to start)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Immunizations and Testing (must be current and documented):
- COVID-19 vaccine (proof or agency declination optional)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination series must be completed within 30 days of start
- Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination series must be completed within 30 days of start
- Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or specific declination form required
- Tuberculosis (TB) Test: One of the following within required timeframes:
- Two skin PPDs (one within 12 months, one within 3 months)
- One Quantiferon or Spot test within 12 months
- For past positive TB tests, chest X-ray within 12 months may be required
- Tdap: Preferred within last 10 years; if not available, specific declination form required
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (annual requirement within last 12 months; must be completed prior to start)
- Physical/Health Statement dated within last 12 months including height, weight, vitals, Snellen eye chart, and physician’s clearance with no restrictions
- Agency drug screen (9+ panel) within 30 days of start
Background and Compliance
- Agency background check within 30 days of start including:
- Social Security Number address trace (7 years)
- County and national criminal searches
- FACIS 3 check
- 7 Instant Background Checks (manual upload required)
- Signed and dated job description
- Employment verification of most recent employer
- Two professional references:
- One supervisor reference from employment within last 12 months
- One supervisor or peer reference from employment within last 3 years
- Color headshot photo (professional, no filters, JPEG format)
- Completion of required agency forms and acknowledgments including:
- Personal Information Form
- Code of Conduct
- Confirmation of Assignment
- Self Study Packet and Quiz
- Sexual Harassment Acknowledgement
