Description
Registered Nurse (Operating Room) - Travel Assignment
Location: San Diego, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour day shifts
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Call: 2-8 hour call shifts every 4 weeks with a 30-minute response time
Job Summary
Provide safe, therapeutic, and individualized nursing care to patients and families in the Operating Room setting. Utilize the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to promote quality outcomes and patient advocacy. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage complex or high-risk clinical situations and coordinate patient care effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient and family needs, prioritizing goals and documenting findings.
- Develop and implement individualized, age- and culturally-appropriate plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Evaluate patient and family progress toward goals and adjust care plans as needed.
- Identify and address patient/family educational needs using adult-learning theory.
- Serve as a patient advocate, encouraging participation in decision-making and upholding rights.
- Communicate care needs clearly through documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Delegate tasks appropriately within team members’ scope of practice.
- Coordinate and integrate care with healthcare team and ancillary staff to support patient well-being and workflow efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Additional Information
- Must submit Operating Room questionnaire prior to assignment.
- Ability to respond to call shifts within 30 minutes.
