Description
X-Ray Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Day shift, Monday through Friday
- 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift (approx. 7:15 AM – 5:00 PM, start/end times may fluctuate)
- No call required
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Floating may be required based on staffing needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Acute Care and Outpatient settings
- Operating Room (OR) experience required
- X-Ray Technician experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only)
- Experience with Epic charting system
Clinical Skills & Work Settings
- Work settings include Adult Acute Care, Adult Outpatient, Bedside/Portable Procedures, Pediatric Outpatient
- Imaging expertise in:
- Abdomen/GI: decubitus, supine (KUB), upright
- Lower Extremities: ankle, calcaneus, femur, foot, knee, patella, tibia-fibula, toes, trauma lower extremity
- Upper Extremities: AC joints, clavicle, elbow, forearm, hand, humerus, scapula, shoulder, thumb/finger, wrist
- Spine and Pelvis: cervical spine, lumbar spine, pelvis, thoracic spine
- Special procedures with C-arm equipment:
- Big C-arm for total joints (hips, shoulders), orthopedic cases, cholecystectomy, cochlear implants, bladder stimulator, pain injections
- Mini C-arm for smaller orthopedic cases (setup and image transmission to PACS)
- Portable imaging for post-op knees, abdomens, and other needs
- Coverage includes Diagnostic Imaging areas such as Employee Health, Wound Care, Occupational Health, and Inpatient Rehab

- Adolescents, infants, adults, geriatrics
Experience & Travel Requirements
- Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
- Local candidates not accepted due to radius restrictions
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address within 100 miles of facility required within 48 hours of signing
- E-Verify or attestation required
- 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years (must be current within 1 year of start)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Fit test for respirator masks within 1 year of start, updated annually (not required for students)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year, updated annually; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunization or positive titer documentation required for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination documentation or declination with masking requirement during flu season
- Two clinical references required
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Annual skills checklist update required
- Photo for badge with specific background requirements
Additional Notes
- Candidate must review and acknowledge the Contract Staff Orientation Manual prior to start
- HIPAA compliance documentation required
- Some certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC may be required depending on unit assignment
- No annual update required for background check unless there is a 30+ day break between assignments
This position offers a structured day shift schedule with no call and supports a variety of imaging procedures in a multi-patient population setting. It is suitable for radiologic technologists with OR experience and proficiency in Siemens equipment, who are comfortable working in acute care and outpatient environments.
