Description

Registered Nurse

Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 9 weeks (61 days ≈ 9 weeks)
Shift: 10-hour day shifts, 4 days per week


Job Summary

Provide safe, competent, quality nursing care based on nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice to a designated group of patients and their families. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver nursing care using critical thinking and assessment skills.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Prioritize patient care activities including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Manage assignments within a Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.

Patient Experience

  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families, respecting cultural diversity and individual preferences.
  • Perform Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing key patient needs.
  • Facilitate patient-centered care practices such as bedside shift reports and medication reviews.
  • Initiate service recovery and escalate patient concerns appropriately.

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research.
  • Escalate safety hazards following institutional protocols.
  • Document nursing care accurately to support quality and performance initiatives.

Operations

  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate supply and staffing needs with nursing leadership.
  • Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.
  • Ensure cost-effective use of resources.

Professional Development

  • Support clinical colleagues and contribute to a positive environment of care.
  • Advance clinical competence and demonstrate ethical decision-making.
  • Engage in lifelong learning, specialty practice councils, and nursing committees.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of infusion experience, including infusion experience within the last year
  • Oncology experience
  • Chemo/Immuno/Bio Provider Card

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system highly preferred.

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is required for travel positions (minimum 1 year travel experience). Not required for per diem roles.
