- Every other weekend
- 36 hours per week (12-hour shifts)
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery is responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. The RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care, focusing on patient comfort, education, and satisfaction. The role includes supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, mentoring/precepting, and participating in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks and mentor/precept staff members.
- Participate in teamwork, quality improvement, safety, and service process improvements.
- Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.
- Recognize complex patient data to prioritize care and anticipate discharge needs.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
- Utilize evidence-based practice and stay informed on relevant research.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Acute Care experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system
Education
- Nursing Diploma OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN).
