Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Travel)
Location
- Danville, Virginia
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Travel RN position in the Emergency Department (ED)
- Urgent backfill with 1 opening
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Rotating weekends/As needed
- No call requirements
- Float as needed
Unit Information
- 31 beds plus 2 triage rooms (7 beds designated for Behavioral Health or Acute patients)
- Patient ratio typically 1:4; exceptions during high volume or discharge holds
- Patient population includes all ages
- Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech (for admit holds and behavioral health patients)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications required prior to start:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- Must consent to random drug screening and complete a criminal questionnaire/consent form

- Extensive Emergency Room experience
- Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented personality
Additional Information
- Orientation offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Dress code: Scrubs of traveler’s choice
- Facility is a 250-bed academic community hospital with comprehensive surgical services, 24-hour ED, cardiac rehab, oncology, and more
- Located in a small town with city amenities, known as “The River District” with parks, trails, and cultural attractions nearby
