Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Job – Jacksonville, North Carolina
Job Summary
- Operate LINAC equipment to deliver prescribed radiation therapy.
- Assist with positioning/restraint devices, patient setups, portal adjustments, and interpreting prescriptions.
- Support tumor localization, dosimetry, and CT clinical simulation procedures.
- Maintain close observation and supervision of patients during treatment.
- Coordinate simulation schedules with physicians and staff to avoid delays.
- Participate in training radiation therapy students.
- Capture patient charges accurately.
- Apply professional judgment and maintain medical ethics.
- Practice radiation safety using ALARA principles.
Location & Schedule
- Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8-hour day shifts (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Total Hours: 40 hours per week
- No local candidates within 50-mile radius accepted.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
- ARRT (R) certification
- BLS certification
Licensure
- Valid state license as a Radiation Therapist required.
- Primary source license verification must be completed within 30 days of start.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days while on assignment.
- Education verification required within 90 days of start; diploma or transcript must show graduation date and degree.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted unless used as a temporary placeholder).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test required (can be completed onsite).
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (titer not accepted).
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – 2 vaccines or positive titer; full lab reports required.
- Hepatitis B titer required; vaccine series alone not accepted.
- Varicella – 2 vaccines, positive titer, or physician-documented history.
- Negative TB test (QGold/Tspot or 2-step PPD) within 1 year of start; full lab report required.
- Annual TB questionnaire and screening as applicable.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 – Feb 28) with medical or religious exemptions accepted upon approval.
- COVID vaccination proof required if vaccinated; unvaccinated candidates must complete declination form.
Facility-Specific Requirements

- Code of Conduct Attestation
- Confidentiality Statement
- User Access Request Form
- Certification Acknowledgement
- Standards of Communication (must be reviewed, initialed, and signed)
- Vehicle Registration Form
- TB Questionnaire (facility-specific)
- COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire (within 15 days of start)
- Covid Declination form if unvaccinated
- LMS modules must be completed during orientation (some can be completed within 7 days post-start).
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training required for ER RNs (not applicable here but noted for facility context).
Additional Notes
- Minimal to no Return to Office (RTO) required, including summer holidays.
- Professional demeanor and adherence to medical ethics expected.
- Candidates must sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Confidentiality forms prior to start.
