CT Technologist (Computed Tomography)

Location: Artesia, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: CT/Xray
• Shift: Nights (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 7pm-7am, plus every other Saturday)
• Hours per day: 12
• Hours per week: 36
• Call Requirement: Rotates every 5 weeks; 7 days in a row from 5pm-7am weekdays plus 24-hour weekend coverage. Response time is 30 minutes. Callbacks are rare and mostly for after-hour OR cases.
• Weekend and Holiday Requirements: Rotational weekend coverage and holiday shifts required.
• Dress Code: Black scrubs
• Orientation: Up to 1 week of department-specific orientation

Required Qualifications

• New Mexico CT/Radiology license (will wait for license)
• ARRT (R) certification required; ARRT (CT) preferred
• BLS Certification
• Minimum 1 year of CT and Xray experience (experience in OR not required but willingness to work with C-arm and start IVs is necessary)
• Must be able to start IVs
• First-time travel technologists are acceptable

Work Environment & Equipment

• Department: Radiology (Xray/CT)
• Imaging Equipment:

  • CT: Fuji Sceneria View CT scanner
  • Xray: Digital Diagnostic Philips x-ray room, Optima 220 portable, plus offsite Fuji and Konika Xray units
• Number of rooms/scanners:

  • 2 Xray rooms at hospital
  • 2 outpatient orthopedic clinics
  • 1 outpatient clinic in Carlsbad
  • 1 CT scanner at hospital
• Typical daily volume:

  • Xray: 25-50 studies
  • CT: 25-30 studies (including CTA exams)
• EMR/PACS: EMR system is Truebridge (CPSI); PACS is NOVA RAD
• Radiologist coverage: No in-house radiologist; reads done remotely via teleradiology
• Floating: Possible coverage at outpatient clinics for Xrays

Job Duties

• Perform common radiology exams in Xray and CT, including ER and OR settings (no fluoroscopy on site)
• Perform common CT and CTA exams
• Start IVs as needed
• Participate in on-call rotation and weekend/holiday shifts

Additional Information

• Modules must be completed prior to working on the floor; billing allowed for up to 6 hours of module work
• Scheduling is managed by the director; no self-scheduling; attempts made to group shifts together
• Overnight shifts require strong CT experience due to single tech coverage

This position is suitable for CT technologists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working night shifts, starting IVs, and participating in call rotations. Prior travel experience is not required.
