Description
Radiation Therapist - Travel/Contract
Location: Rochester, New York
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Cancer Services/Oncology)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
- No Saturday shifts
- Floating required to other Radiation Oncology locations
Job Description
- Operate Ethos or Varian radiation therapy machines (experience preferred)
- Perform tasks including tumor localization, block cutting, B-Mode acquisition targeting, CBCT/kV/mV imaging, compensation filters, custom molds and shields, portal cast, wedges, radiation dose calculation, external beam therapy, and IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy)
- Use lift/transfer devices and follow isolation precautions/PPE protocols
- Maintain radiation safety and participate in rapid response/code teams
- Work independently in a fast-paced environment with strong communication skills, flexibility, dependability, and teamwork
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in New York
- Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ARRT (Therapy) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start (including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, updated monthly
- Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees)
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific acceptable mask types)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, with TB questionnaire as annual renewal alternative
- Immunization or titer documentation for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
- Color blindness testing (one-time)
- Competency exams as required by specialty
- References (2 within 3 years) required for direct hire candidates
- Employment application and work history verification (minimum 2 past employments)
Additional Notes
- Locals accepted if residing more than 75 miles away (at a lower rate)
- Must be adaptable and willing to float to other Radiation Oncology locations
- EPIC experience required
