Registered Nurse – Telemetry (Float Pool)

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Rotating Days, Evenings, and Nights (36 hours/week)

Job Overview

• Float Pool RN position requiring willingness to float among 8 different Med/Surg Telemetry units throughout the hospital.
• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, managing cardiac drips, and interpreting telemetry strips every 4 hours.
• Patient care includes ED border patients, acute mental health medication nursing, and non-vented ICU transfer-ready patients.
• Clinician-to-patient ratios:

  • Days & Evenings: up to 5:1
  • Nights: up to 6:1
• Charting system used: EPIC.

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
• Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience.
• Acute care hospital experience.
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring, including measuring intervals and interpreting strips.
• Experience with TR Band.

Required Licenses & Certifications

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Additional Requirements

• Fit test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date; must be completed prior to start (no onsite testing).
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed.
• Documentation of immunity or vaccination for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella).
• TB screening documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test).
• Physician health statement within 365 days of start date.
• Passing scores on medication and dysrhythmia exams (80% minimum, within 365 days).
• Criminal background check, Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks required within specified timeframes.
• Submission of a detailed resume covering the past 7 years of work experience.
• Two professional references within the last 4 years (minimum one supervisor).
• Completion of skills checklist within 1 year of submission.
• Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for any start date changes.

Patient Population & Unit Details

• Float among multiple Med/Surg Telemetry units including ED and acute mental health units.
• Units range from 8 to 41 beds.
• Total hospital bed count: 371.

Rotation & Scheduling

• Rotating schedule includes Days, Evenings, and Nights.
• Rotation pattern: Days/Evenings with 1 to 3 night shifts per contract.

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with floating across multiple units and managing complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced hospital environment.
