Respiratory Therapist - Contract Position
Location
- Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Job Type
- Contract Clinician
- 13-week assignment
- 12-hour night shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- No call, never working alone
Job Description
- Assist in diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders
- Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath specimens to measure oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases
- Measure lung capacity to assess impaired function
- Monitor specialized respiratory equipment and patient condition continuously
- Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure continuity of care from admission through discharge
- Use critical thinking to adjust workload and assignments for optimal patient care and productivity
- Utilize electronic charting systems
- Maintain professional relationships with physicians and healthcare personnel
- Perform various related duties as assigned
- Must be competent to meet age-specific needs of the assigned unit
Equipment Used
- EPIC electronic charting system
- V60 bipap machines
- 980 and 840 ventilators
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting
- Critical care experience required
- NICU experience preferred but not required
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or U.S. military equivalent
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Current Idaho Respiratory Care Practitioner license required
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
- Strong communication and technical skills to adapt equipment and procedures
- Good customer relations and assessment skills
Orientation and Training
- General orientation followed by department-specific training with an educator

- Dress code: Olive green scrubs provided by the department
- Floating only within Respiratory Therapy department
- Facility size: 299 beds with a 40-bed Emergency Department
