Description
Pediatric and Teen ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care for pediatric patients aged 3 days to 18 years in both Pediatric and Pediatric ICU (PICU) units.
- Float to Neonatal ICU (NICU) as needed.
- Care includes managing common childhood illnesses (including COVID-19), respiratory issues, traumas, seizures, poisonings, RSV, general surgical cases, birth defects, and trauma cases.
- Cardiac and burn cases are typically sent out.
Unit Details
- Pediatric Unit: 28 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4
- PICU Unit: 7 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:2
- Facility is a Level 2 Trauma center with 400+ beds.
Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days, 3am-3pm)
- Overtime options may be available
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in both Pediatric and PICU nursing (must have both).
- Experience in a Level 2 Trauma center with 400+ bed facility acuity required.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- PALS certification through AHA.
- Valid RN license (Indiana or compact).
- EPIC electronic medical record experience required.
- IV skills are a plus.
Orientation and Training
- 8 hours of non-billable orientation (travelers returning within 12 months are not eligible for this).
- Orientation includes 24 hours on the floor with a preceptor.
Additional Information
- Must be able to float to NICU.
- Dress code: Caribbean blue scrubs.
- Call-off policy allows cancellation up to 24 hours before shift for the 13-week assignment.
