Pediatric and Teen ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care for pediatric patients aged 3 days to 18 years in both Pediatric and Pediatric ICU (PICU) units.
• Float to Neonatal ICU (NICU) as needed.
• Care includes managing common childhood illnesses (including COVID-19), respiratory issues, traumas, seizures, poisonings, RSV, general surgical cases, birth defects, and trauma cases.
• Cardiac and burn cases are typically sent out.

Unit Details

• Pediatric Unit: 28 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4
• PICU Unit: 7 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:2
• Facility is a Level 2 Trauma center with 400+ beds.

Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days, 3am-3pm)
• Overtime options may be available

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in both Pediatric and PICU nursing (must have both).
• Experience in a Level 2 Trauma center with 400+ bed facility acuity required.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• PALS certification through AHA.
• Valid RN license (Indiana or compact).
• EPIC electronic medical record experience required.
• IV skills are a plus.

Orientation and Training

• 8 hours of non-billable orientation (travelers returning within 12 months are not eligible for this).
• Orientation includes 24 hours on the floor with a preceptor.

Additional Information

• Must be able to float to NICU.
• Dress code: Caribbean blue scrubs.
• Call-off policy allows cancellation up to 24 hours before shift for the 13-week assignment.
