Description
Registered Nurse – Outpatient Clinic
Location: Sacramento, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Job Summary
- Manage patient and family experience using critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and nursing judgment.
- May lead interdisciplinary case conferences in outpatient special care centers.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations to maintain patient privacy and safety.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, Day Shift (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- 40 hours per week
- No weekend or on-call requirements
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of clinic nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Experience in Pediatrics nursing
- Experience in Trauma nursing
Background and Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- Motor Vehicle Report required for all candidates
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
- Work history verification up to 7 years, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD with annual renewal
- Immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person, documented by licensed provider)
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
- Additional certifications may be required depending on department (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CCRN, TNCC) – verify by position
- Facility-specific documents and trainings must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including:
- Job description acknowledgment
- Standards of business conduct
- Code of conduct
- Vendor training
- Overpayment refund policy
- Regulatory orientation for contracted workers
- Conditional offer of employment attestation
