Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Intermediate Care Unit)

Shift Details
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week
- Shift hours: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Weekly hours: 36 hours for 3 shifts of 12 hours
Unit and Patient Ratio
- Intermediate Care Unit - Telemetry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience not required
Scheduling
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- On-call required
- Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Local candidates within 75 miles not accepted
Licensure and Certifications
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum of 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Compliance and Background Checks
- Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver's license)
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
- Statewide and nationwide searches
- Sex offender registry
- International searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required quarterly
- Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required prior to start
- State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks for Illinois placements, renewed quarterly
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or equivalent within 1 year)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or medical exemption)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 - Apr 1)
- Drug screening within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.), must remain valid throughout assignment

- Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
- Competency exams as required by unit (e.g., medication/pharmacology, oncology if applicable)
- Facility-specific documents including:
- HIPAA acknowledgement
- Latex allergy questionnaire
- Confidentiality form
- Regulatory compliance education (annual quiz with minimum 80% score)
- TB questionnaire (annual)
- Hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policy acknowledgements
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Background check and license verifications uploaded and current
