Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Round Rock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Backfill contract position in the Operating Room/Surgery department
- Shift schedules vary based on need; may include 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
- Call requirements and possible weekend shifts based on unit needs
- Typical weekly hours: 36
Unit Information
- 11 operating rooms with approximately 40 staff members across all shifts
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Equipment includes microscopes, Da Vinci Xi robot, Mako robot, laparoscopic Stryker tower, Stealth, and endovascular hybrid room equipment
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
- Permanent positions available on the unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in trauma nursing
- Experience in vascular surgery cases such as fistula creation and endarterectomy
Typical Procedures Performed
- General surgery: X-lif, A-lif, decompression, ACDF, craniotomy
- Robotic surgeries: thoracic, general, gynecology, urology
- Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacements using Mako robot
- Cardiovascular surgeries: CABG, valve surgeries, aortic surgeries including trauma cases, TAVR, TCAR, TEVAR, EVAR, and open vascular cases
Work Environment & Expectations
- Flexibility to work in different types of operating rooms and with various case types
- Ability to adapt to unit workflows and collaborate with existing staff
- Willingness to occasionally pick up extra hours (not mandatory)
- May assist in orienting new graduate techs or RNs

- Light blue scrubs provided
- Adherence to unit policies and guidelines regarding attire
