Description
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse - Contract
Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide care for patients pre-operation, and during Phase I and Phase II recovery after surgery.
- Utilize advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills to monitor incision sites, body temperature, and other indicators of patient stability or complications.
- Work in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU).
- Use equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Hawaii.
- Minimum of 2 years of Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a critical care RN.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Emergency Department (ED).
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Schedule
- Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours.
- Work hours may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- No guarantee of specific hours or shift preference.
- On-call shifts required 0-3 times per month (including 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage).
Additional Information
- Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
- Flu vaccination can be administered during employee health clearance appointment.
