Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location

• St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin
• Approximately 90 minutes east of Minneapolis/St. Paul

Position Details

• Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
• Shift: 12-hour shifts, rotating day and night (7a-7:30p / 7p-7:30a)
• Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Schedule: Typically 2 shifts one week, 3 shifts the next week within the pay period
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun)
• Holiday Requirement: Every 3rd holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• 6 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) beds
• C-sections performed in Main OR (not on L&D unit)
• No triage or postpartum beds on unit
• Approximately 17 births per month (220 per year)
• Follow AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
• No charge nurse on shift; only 2 nurses per shift
• House supervisor available 24/7, NRP trained
• No nurse aides or surgical techs on unit
• Tele/Monitor techs present; RNs not required to interpret monitor strips
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) system: OBIX

Patient Population & Care

• Care for labor, delivery, postpartum, mom/baby couplets (>34 weeks gestation)
• Neonates under 34 weeks transferred out
• No VBACs or TOLACs performed
• Well-baby nursery includes care for IV antibiotics, IV dextrose, feeders/growers, and jaundice (bili) babies
• Post-surgical patients (e.g., post-appendectomy, post-cholecystectomy) cared for on OB unit
• RNs required to titrate drips such as oxytocin, magnesium, and insulin

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN EMF Intermediate certification preferred
• STABLE certification preferred

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of OB nursing experience required
• MedSurg experience preferred due to occasional float to MedSurg unit as helping hands when OB census is low

Orientation & Training

• OB department orientation: 2 shifts
• Scrubs provided

This position is ideal for an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse comfortable with a variety of OB and neonatal care responsibilities in a small hospital setting.
