Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Total hours per week: 36
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Labor and Delivery nursing
- Locals accepted
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN or C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification for Labor and Delivery nurses
- Maternal Fetal Triage Index (MFTI) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of start)
- Fire Card issued by an LAFD-approved instructor (must be obtained within 30 days of start; Blue card only)
Required Licenses
- Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license with primary source verification
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/schooled, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification (transcript, diploma, or equivalent)
- Employment application required
- 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care candidates
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam clearance within the past year
- Fit mask testing within 12 months prior to start (acceptable masks: 3M Aura 9205+ or 3M 1860 Small)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (QGold, Tspot, or two-step PPD)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella: Positive titer required; low titers require booster; declination not accepted except for Hepatitis B with proof of prior vaccination or negative titer
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (September - March)
- COVID vaccination plus booster or documented declination
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (cardiac rhythm identification) within 1 year prior to start
- Assault Response Competency (ARC) live training within 30 days of start (4-hour course, fee applies)
- De-escalation modules attestation
- Arbitration agreement and voluntary meal waiver forms
- Access request and badge/parking forms
- Completion of orientation checklists within first 30 days (general, unit-specific competency, CORE competency, unit tour)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
Additional Notes
- Passport-style photo required for badge
- Color vision exam (14-plate Ishihara test) may be required depending on unit assignment
- Chemotherapy certification not required for this specialty
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
