Registered Nurse (MS) - Travel Assignment

Location: Moreno Valley, California

Job Description

• Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs within specified time frames.
• Reassess patients’ health needs at least every shift or as warranted by condition changes using nursing processes.
• Develop and update individualized plans of care based on comprehensive data and reassessments.
• Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the "7 rights" of medication administration.
• Assess and document medication and treatment effectiveness and any adverse effects.
• Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing best practices, hospital policies, sterile technique, standard precautions, and patient privacy.
• Document patient care, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress toward goals accurately and legibly with date, time, signature, and title.
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs using approved educational materials.
• Interpret and analyze diagnostic data and reports, intervening appropriately.
• Communicate promptly any changes in patient clinical condition to physicians and healthcare team members using SBAR communication during handoffs.
• Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning.
• Evaluate and document the effectiveness of patient care and teaching.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
• Manage patients in restraints according to policy and demonstrate knowledge of restraint application criteria.
• Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including use of two patient identifiers.
• Understand and participate in the hospital’s Disaster Plan and Rapid Response Team activation.
• Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards including Code Blue, Code Pink, Code Red, Haz Mat spills, and oxygen shut-off procedures.
• Follow hospital infection control policies and blood transfusion protocols.
• Understand and appropriately use the Chain of Command.
• Practice hand hygiene before and after each patient contact.
• Follow guidelines for Core Measures and vaccine control.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing within the last year.
• Experience in an Acute Care setting.
• Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• This is a night shift travel nursing position with a short-term contract.
