Description

MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: Night, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (20:00 - 6:00)
Hours: 40 hours per week (70 hours guaranteed per 2 weeks, with possible call-off for one 10-hour shift every 2 weeks)
Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live at least 50 miles from facility)
Weekend Coverage: May be more frequent than every other weekend, based on staffing needs
On-call: Not required
Floating: Not required


Unit Information

  • Primarily brain and spine MRI imaging, also abdominal and extremity imaging
  • Does not include enterography, prostate, cardiac, or breast imaging
  • Works extensively with anesthesia and ICU patients
  • MRI Equipment: 2 machines (Siemens Sola 1.5T and Siemens Free.Max 0.55T)

Required Qualifications

  • MRI Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist (R) certification
  • ARRT Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (as applicable)
  • Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must include SSN trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR if applicable
  • Education Verification (degree/diploma/transcript) required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Physical Exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require positive titer and vaccine series)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
  • Drug Screen: 9-panel within 12 months (instant acceptable)
  • Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required for travel candidates, medically cleared annually
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • Employment Application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps/overlaps

Training & Competency Requirements

  • Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • Epic charting system training required (completion of role-specific Epic modules)
  • Skills checklist updated annually as applicable
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Time off requests approved individually and must be included with submission
  • No block scheduling accommodations
  • Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
  • Facility provides radiation badges as applicable
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to nearby facilities within reasonable distance

This position offers a specialized MRI Tech role in a high-acuity hospital environment with advanced imaging equipment and a focus on brain and spine imaging. It is ideal for candidates with at least one year of MRI experience who are open to travel assignments and working night shifts in Alaska.
