Job Opportunity: Inpatient General Surgery Nurse (RN Medical/Surgical)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Schedule: 36 hours per week, day/night rotating shifts

Job Requirements

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 3 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• At least 1 year of total travel nursing experience
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Other relevant nursing experience

Required Certifications and Health Clearances

• Basic Life Support (BLS): Must be current and valid (AHA preferred)
• Fit Test: N95 respirator fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no exemptions allowed)
• Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) Attestation: Required if fit test is required
• Immunizations:

  • Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunity or vaccination
  • TB test (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months
• Health Statement: Physician-signed health statement within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months
• Additional Optional: If positive TB test, documentation of negative chest x-ray after positive test

Required Professional Checks and Documentation

• Criminal Background Check: Within 45 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months
• Massachusetts CORI Check: Within 30 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months
• National Sex Offender Registry Check: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Exclusion Checks: OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid exclusion lists within 30 days prior to start and annually
• Social Security Number Trace: Must be run with criminal background check covering last 7 years
• Education Verification: Highest level of education verified through background check
• Resume: Must include past 7 years of work experience with city and state
• References: Two references within last 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher in the same skillset
• Skills Checklist: Completed within 1 year of submission
• Assignment Confirmation Form: Required for all initial assignments and extensions

Additional Notes

• No fit testing can be done onsite; must be completed prior to start
• Some locations may allow fit test updates if assignment is extended
• All documentation must be current and compliant with state and facility regulations
• Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory for this role
