Description
Ultrasound Technician (Diagnostic Imaging) - Contract
Location: Chillicothe, Ohio
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 40 hours per week, 5 days a week (5x8-hour shifts)
- Weekday shifts: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (varies by room assignment)
- Weekend coverage: 12-hour shift from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM with adjacent weekdays having shorter shifts (e.g., 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM)
No on-call required
Job Description
- Perform general diagnostic ultrasound exams (vascular ultrasound not required)
- Operate ultrasound equipment, selecting appropriate transducers, settings, and techniques to ensure optimal image quality
- Prepare patients by explaining procedures, taking relevant medical history, and positioning correctly
- Recognize and document normal and abnormal sonographic findings
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicians by providing preliminary impressions and ensuring timely delivery of images and reports
- Maintain accurate patient records including procedure details and technical data
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of ultrasound equipment
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and radiation safety protocols
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuing education as required
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards
- Communicate effectively to ensure patient identification, education, safety, and satisfaction
- Document and communicate any deviations from protocol
- Provide interventions for patients across all age groups: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
- Experience working as an Ultrasound Technologist within the last year
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
- ARDMS (Abdominal)
- ARDMS (Obstetrics)
Additional Information
- Focus on general ultrasound exams only; vascular ultrasound skills are not required
- Organized, timely, and accurate completion of procedures according to department standards
