    Description

    Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

    Location: San Francisco, California
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    • Provide direct and indirect patient care in a clinic setting using comprehensive nursing processes including assessment, care planning, patient education, and ongoing evaluation.
    • Deliver holistic, individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
    • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members through timely communication.
    • Scrub and circulate in the operating room with experience in neuro, Da Vinci robotic surgery, total joint, and spine procedures.

    Shift Details

    • Evening shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
    • Rotating weekends and overtime support required

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Minimum 5 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

    Certifications & Competencies

    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only (verify by position)
    • Other certifications may be required based on position (e.g., PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC) – verify as applicable
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as required
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units

    Background & Screening Requirements

    • 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List searches as applicable
    • Sex offender search within 90 days of start
    • Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps, and verification of up to 7 years employment history
    • Professional references: 2 for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates (within 3 years)

    Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work
    • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
    • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD with annual renewal
    • Immunity or vaccination for:
      • Measles (Rubeola)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
      • Varicella
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
    • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)

    Facility-Specific Requirements

    • Review and sign facility policies including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, overpayment refund policy, and general regulatory orientation prior to start
    • Complete TB screening questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider (MD, PA, NP/APN, DO, or RN) within 90 days of start, renewed annually
    • Complete Epic questionnaire (RN only) for candidates starting 11/3/2025 and onward
    • Religious exemption forms required for facial hair (PAPR) and certain vaccine exemptions, subject to approval

    Additional Notes

    • Candidates must have completed all required background checks and verifications prior to start
    • Pending background check attestations are generally not accepted; conditional clearances require facility approval
    • Employment gaps over 30 days must be explained; gaps over 1 year require approval and may lead to contract cancellation
    • Candidates with positive TB history require a negative chest x-ray within 1 year of start
    • Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures require PAPR training and documentation

    This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong surgical scrub and circulate skills, particularly in neuro, robotic, joint, and spine specialties, seeking a travel contract in California.
