Description

RN Medical/Surgical - Wichita, Kansas

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Schedule: Every other weekend, no call
EHR System: Cerner OneChart
Uniform: Blue scrubs


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical unit.
  • Holiday commitment required for elevated rate.

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
  • Medical/Surgical experience must be within the last year.

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

Professional Documentation (must be submitted prior to assignment)

  • Resume/Profile.
  • Two professional references.
  • Driver’s License or State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements).
  • License/Certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Nursys license verification within 30 days prior to start.

Onboarding Documentation (must be completed prior to or at start)

  • Signed Assignment Agreement (offer letter, initial confirmation, and extension).
  • Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite).
  • Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start).
  • Employment Verification for past 7 years.
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others (within 90 days).
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check (within 90 days).
  • Ascension Resume and Profile.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training).
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules.
  • Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters).
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (agency letterhead with start/end dates).

Certifications & Training (must be current and uploaded)

  • BLS (AHA).
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group).
  • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (passing score required).
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.; minimum 80% passing score).
  • Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, updated every 3 years).
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, updated annually).

Health & Immunizations (must be current and documented)

  • Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years).
  • Health Statement or physical exam (prior to first assignment, updated annually).
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) testing with annual TB questionnaire.
  • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by provider; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza vaccine is optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing required.
  • Fit Test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.

Additional Notes

  • Only two attempts allowed for competency exams requiring a passing score.
  • Some optional checklists may be required by unit leadership after start.
  • All documentation must be uploaded and verified according to specified timelines.
  • Holiday commitment is required for eligibility for elevated pay rate.

This position is ideal for an experienced Medical/Surgical RN seeking a 13-week assignment with a structured schedule and comprehensive onboarding requirements.
