Description
Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Operating Room.
- Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans.
- Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff; mentors and precepts team members.
- Applies evidence-based practice within a Practice Governance framework.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Participates in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts).
- Call: Every 5th weekend and every 15th Friday night.
- Occasional evening call from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, approximately once a month.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Acute care nursing experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Demonstrated precepting skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent clinical decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise individualized care plans.
- Monitor and document patient responses to interventions.
- Provide education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in regulatory compliance efforts.
