Description
Registered Nurse (Med Surg / Neuroscience) - Travel Assignment
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Provide nursing care on a Neurosurgical unit focusing on patients with stroke, seizures, MS, back/head/spinal neurological diagnoses, and neurosurgery procedures.
- Utilize the nursing process to deliver patient care and maintain professional accountability.
- Coordinate patient care with other departments while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality.
Unit Information
- Department: Medical Surgical Unit (Neuro-surgical patients)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (candidate’s choice)
- Weekend Hours: Rotating, with an expectation of every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- Call Requirements: None
- EMR System: EPIC
- Equipment: FIT test required on site
- Float: As needed within scope
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
- Experience in neurology nursing
- Experience in charge nurse roles
- Current BLS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Work Expectations
- Up to 5 days of requested time off per 13-week contract can be automatically approved; additional time off requires leader approval and may need to be made up.
- Candidates should expect to work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day).
- Team player with a patient-focused attitude is preferred.
